Some Pig! It IS cute. I'd like to learn more about ferro cement. Was actually on ferrocement.com this morning looking at houses. Seems to be mostly about steel reinforcement, otherwise normal portland/sand, or am I missing something? How about those delicate ears? Any clue about their making? I'm hoping to trade for a friend's huge, perfect bronze spider.

LOL Linnea I was thinking of you and your cat when I posted this pig. Ferro cement is cement on steel. Some boats are simply layer after layer of chicken wire and portland cement. I suspect the pigs ears might simply be Portland with additives such as silica fume and other more exotic stuff. Tango probably has a good idea how the ears were done. Try mixing some Portland and good latex paint into a peanut butter consistency. You will be surprised how fine and strong it is. Throw in some silica powder and silica fume and it gets very strong.

BTW did you notice that pig is almost 4 feet tall (42"). That's a lot of concrete pig!:)

No I didn't, good size! Pig size. I love the way his little puddle of swill (or?) is holding him up, with his trotter in it. This is good news for someone with a hoard of chicken wire.

The black bears in our area would consider that bird feeder a giant pinata.:)
