My hypertufa elephant planters and other projects

I used to work with plaster before I discovered hypertufa and what I really like about the latter is the longer set time which allows for adjustments throughout the process.

I had an elephant sculpture at home which I thought would look great as a hypertufa planter so I made a mold of it. To make pre-made holes in the planter, I filled up a balloon with water and inserted it in the middle of the wet mix in the belly.

At the moment, I'm having a problem finding a small plant (other than succulents) that can survive in the somewhat shallow planter. In the picture, I planted some greek cress microgreens and right now, I'm experimenting with strawberry runners.
