Hi guys,
It's been a long time since I posted. I was thinking about Halloween, and I wanted to make some tombstones for props. One of the ones I've been straining my brain over was an obelisk. I have made some planters by wrapping dry wall tape around cardboard boxes and beach balls, but what could I use as an obelisk form? I was doing an images search on Google and AAHH SNAP!! I have a couple iron obelisk shaped trellis in my yard. I hope I get around to trying this. Any one out there use topiary forms for hypertufa yard art?

Here is a link that might be useful: Web shots past

Dixiesmom, I haven't tried the topiary forms but would think it would work if you can get them wrapped well enough. I took a look at your album and you do great work. I like the snake. Will you share with me what you did with the face? I have a mask from the craft store. The eyes are a problem. I had been using sand to hold the mask and trying to mound the sand for the eyes but it's not working very well. It leaks out between the plastic and the mask making for bad eyes. My next try I'm thinking I will try some tape or something on the outside of the mask while trying to shape for the eyeball. I noticed you used marbles for the eye. When did you put them in?
Thanks Kathy

I put duct tape over the eye holes and then put the marbles inside the mask up against the tape and made sure the tape stuck to the marbles real good, I had to clean it up a little bit, but it worked pretty good.

wow- dixie- i really enjoyed looking thru all of your tufa creations! Es liked the perfect beach ball round planter and the shells. I saw you said some were real- but some are tufa, right? Very cool. the triangular planters were impressive in their size! The dog's head planter is adorable. What tufa mix do you use, out of curiosity?
