I wonder how many of you can count on rainy days to the point that you can cure outside? It's great, and as a bonus, your skin feels better, too! That's why we call it the Wet Coast!!

I have to go find a map. I always picture you in polar-bear territory. Laura |

Find a map of Canada.Look wayyyy to the left. That's BC.Find Vancouver(BC,that is). We're a little under 2 hours north of Vancouver, including a picturesque 40 minute ferry ride.Only Victoria,BC has more annual sunshine than us(for those BC'ers reading this, sorry, ain't making it up,it's true)and we have about the same rainfall as Vancouver. It seldom snows(maybe 4-5 days a year)so there goes the polar bear theory.Or,to put it into words that eastewrners would understand,we don't own a snow shovel!!So,Ha! Wow, that coastal location sounds great. No polar bears makes me think it would be a good place to live. If you also don't have raccoons or mosquitos I may pack tonight. (I am a little frustrated here in southern Indiana with both of the above) Laura |

Nope!this year, mosquitos weren't much of a problem and haven't seen any raccoons around us(they're not far away, though.)Just an elk or two, black bears, deer and cougar. The deer are pushy and dumb, the elk are pissy and the cougar?we don't see them.Life here is in a great balance, lots of berries in season then salmon in a number of nearby streams,so the bears are content. No interaction or problems where we live. Our subdivision has(on average) six acre lots, with ocean and lake views.we may be only a couple of hours away from Vancouver, but,in the winter,we generally see only five cars on our road...a day! And,we know every one of them. So,yeah, life IS good.we are complete. Cheers from a mellow here. |
