Shopgoodwill.com has been around for awhile. They started it at the Santa Ana store in Orange County, CA. There's still a large as-is area at the store that I remember shopping at as a little kid in the 1950's. The store sells clothing by the pound and a huge amount of stuff in bulk every day. There's also a regular Goodwill store next door. They put interesting things on the website, not necessarily just the things that they think are the most valuable, so you can find just about anything there. I know a lot of people that have had good results buying from them and have never heard a complaint. Linda

Glad you are enjoying the GW site so much, Kirk. I had just discovered it last summer and gotten some really cool things at great prices. Several have come from a Wisc GW store, and then one in the south somewhere. But everything I've bought has been packed AMAZINGLY well. They are great packers, and I've bought some very breakable things too.
I love this site and check it a couple times a week. Its so easy to navigate the various listings too, and just look at what you want.
Hope everyone else who goes there enjoys it just as much.

Here's my question: If the other bidder has set up to have proxy bidding (automatic out bidding all bids) what will happen if I decide to start my own proxy bidding on the same item? Will this run the price up to the sky automatically? I'm puzzled because It seems like proxy bidding makes it so that the first one to set up a proxy bid on the item will get it no matter what. I even bid more than the minimum bid and that didn't even help. Does anyone here know what's up with that?!

I always bid on things (ebay too) as close to the end of the auction as possible. I think early bidding can drive a price up easier.

Right now am waiting another 5 days (sigh) on a pair of white ceramic deer I BADLY want. It got a bidder the first day but none since. So hopefully it will just be she and I and she won't go high.

I cannot believe that someone paid $17 for the scary demon mask! I went as high as $6 on it and thought that was a little crazy. With the shipping, I could get a fancier new one for a little more than $25. If tinyt is here, sorry but you are crazy! lol!

OH MY GOSH! is right!!! This is a fun junk shopping place. I tried it the other day when I read this post
but when I got into GW shopping, the print was tiny and
sqwished! So today I messed around and increased font
size..."Oh, la, la!" I am hooked! I loved it! Thanks
for sharing, Kirk, and for all of you that posted and shared info on GW site. About 6" more of snow today and
the wind is picking up for tomorrow morning...so I'm

With so many new people on the forum, I just had to reintroduce this great site! I check it out every day. You have to watch the shipping though, but I've picked up several items I have won from our local Goodwill and don't have to pay shipping. A FUN SITE!!!! Bear Hugs! Kirk

I have bought items from Goodwill off and on for the past few years. We didn't have a store close by. One thing you need to check is the outrageous shipping charges and handling charges.

I saw a lovely metal vintage style tea pot I would love to have....bid 3.00 reasonable............shipping 10.00........handling.....2.00. Hmmmmmmmmmm tea pot not so attractive at 15.00 and that's if you get it for the 3.00 bid.

I love looking thru all the items Goodwill has but some of their shipping rates are way out of line. All these items are donated and I know for a fact it doesn't cost 10.00 to ship one tea pot.

Don't want to rain on your parade just want to make you aware.

I also bounce between goodwill and ebay and yes I am a wicked sniper...............LOL

Does anyone remember Andy's Warehouse Auction? It was run by Fingerhut no less..........oooooooooh the bargains I got there and their shipping was reasonable. How i miss them. There were a couple others but I don't remember the names. Sigh! Hmmmmmmmmm maybe I should google.

Then there's freecycle.............I can't begin to tell you all the goodies I have gotten off there. Ok so I belong to 5 different ones.............:) I subscribe to all that are within a 50 mile radius and try to pick up two or more items on one trip if possible.

Anybody watch the Junk Brothers? Boy would I like to find some of the loot they find. And that Workshop............
