A change in life?

At this point in our lives, we are pondering the thought of giving up on the traditional life that we have had instilled in us since birth. You know, a house, the cars, raising the kids, well the kids are grown and gone, the cars are just a machine to get me around, and the house, well, it is becoming the heavy anchor around our necks.

With 7 acres of maintenence and gardens galore, we are now thinking that RVing full time might just be the answer.

We just purchased our second motorhome last week and I have left my nowhere job. DH is retired and living the dream on SS & Pension and being diagnosed with prostrate cancer last fall, we are thinking, why the hell not!

There is a VA medical center in every state.

As I have been researching this very possible move, I came across this web blog and just had to share with you, that the possibilities abound for anyone anywhere!!

And I can still think about working on my garden junk!!

Go for it, Chevy. And prayers for your DH to overcome the cancer challenge.
I know there are a lot of retired couples hitting the road and you'd probably have a ball.

chevy57 ... Change is good ... isn't that what makes life so remarkable! Sounds like you are both ready for a new challenge & fun! Health issues are definitely mind-boggling & brings things into perspective...sounds like you've both had a good life on your acreage & time for change.

Only advice I can offer: 3 couples we know that have done (what you are contemplating) decided after a few years that they did like having a "permanent spot" for part of the time. One couple bought a small house again but travels over half the year... another couple bought a parking lot (slab) in southern TX and spends probably 5 mos. there, & then travels some & then camps out at their 2 daughters homes in diff. states (they are lookin' again for a small home when back here...their roots). The other couple bought into condo living & still travels alot!

It sounds like a lot of fun. Loved the blog you posted. I imagine you'd see a lot of incredibly interesting stuff! I know I love road tripping on weekends so I can relate. I hope you and your DH have an awesome time and make sure you keep in touch with your fellow Junkers when you are on the road. Heck, you could stop and meet us all (well except for caitl maybe - he-he). I also hope the new adventure will help your DH arrive at a very speedy and full recovery from the big C!
