Hub's Birthday Stacked Plate Cake

Hubs turned 48 (I'm a 50 yr old cradle robber).

Thought I would incorporate my stacked plates project to make myself appear like the ACE OF CAKES!!!! It was chocolate, pecan, coconut. Two boxes of mix (I cheated) and two cans of icing (double cheated). Cut hole in the center of two paper doillies and cut slit and slide it on to fit around center plate supports. Take a drinking glass (giant cookie cutter) and cut the middle out of two cakes, cut them in half, place them on the doillied stacked plates. The icing glued the cakes back together just fine. The top cake remains whole.

Hubs said it was the largest Birthday Cake he has ever had. P.S. Paper Doillies (99 cent store) can be cut down in size or pieced together. The bottom glass tray was so big that I had to cut and piece them together to make a decent lacy border. I had no idea that I had 3 different sizes of cake pans that would end up working just fine. susie
