The Hard Working Women of 199 Bright Street

I was having a difficult time wondering who will occupy my miniature houses on Bright Street. The door openings measure almost 16" tall. I did not really want to go with BARBIE because she looks more like an American Idol than a home lovin' woman from Bright Street. While I was doing laundry today I looked up and saw my "Mother's Little Helpers". You know LAUNDRY HELPERS!!!!! I have a small collection of Laundry ladies. They might enjoy periodic visits to the houses outside especially when I get the miniature clotheslines up. The tallest laundry lady has a clothes basket. I put a scrap of one of my Grandmothers deteriorated embroidery scarves and a scrap from my Grandfathers handkerchiff. Today was a Bright Day!!!!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! They are darling!! I've never seen anything like them. Their outfits are soo cute. They are perfect for your houses. I would be afraid to leave them out in the weather though.

Suz... what a BRIGHT idea !!!!! LOL ... I too would be afraid to leave them outside long.. They look like they could be valuable. Americana collectibles are hot right now woman !!!

Wonderful. You're imagination & creative thoughts amazes me. How marvelous that they get to help each other doing laundry! That's a one woman show at my house!

I bought some tiny clothes pins and a tiny antique iron. The lady on the far left has some of the pins on her pennifore. She is a shelf sitter doll. The two women in the middle were broken wooden dolls from Hobby Lobby that I bought for 90% off. One had an umbrella and the other had a golf club. I brought them home and revamped them for Laundry room duty using a small basket and a miniature scrub board. The one on the far right is interesting. She looked like my babysitter, LouLou, and a cross between the devoted nanny from Gone With The Wind. I made her apron out of some vintage cloth. Then I made her a red chiffon petty coat to go under her skirt. She has only the top half of a body and is glued to a jar.

Now I need to come up with some Men to help with the gardening or maybe they will just set on the porch reading the paper. Right-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t.

Those are wonderful Susie! I've never seen them before! And they look to be the perfect size! I'm sure they would enjoy a trip to big house from time to time.
