Sometimes I do it the way you do...but mostof the time I just buy things that I like and then when I feel like creating something I pull it all out and see what moves me.

It is fun both ways and I am sure that there are other ways that are fun too.

I see things in a paticular color and usually buy only one piece at a time here and there. Then when the closet is bulging I take them all out and do a bunch at a time. It is a haphazard way of doing it but that is how my brain works.

I really wish I had a strategy! Mindlessly buying glass stuff just because it "might be" a neat future totem part is why I'm now overwhelmed with stuff. I took two bags of things BACK to GW and donated them today. I am going to try real hard to be more selective in the future. I spent 2 hrs today working on decluttering and organizing stuff in my garage. Barely made a dent, but at least I started and am more determined than ever to control the chaos out there.
As soon as I get all the VISIBLE stuff taken care of, then I'll tackle the cabinets and drawers. All the bead supplies, the mosaic supplies....my mantra needs to be Use It or Lose It. LOL. I haven't made any bead jewelry in several years, and I haven't even started learning to mosaic tho bought lots of stuff to do so years ago! I want to learn tho, it really appeals to me. But right now, I've got two or three totems to make to clear the counter of glass pieces!
