silicone question

I know you'll have used GE Silicone II for years on your projects, I'm still pretty new to this product. My question is, can it be put into a plastic mold, let cure and then maintain it's shape? How thick can the mold be and would I need to use mold release?

Haven't tried that, crafty...so, don't know...I would think it would be very hard to 'cure' it with much of a 'thickness' like a stepping stone mold or something??? Jeanne s.
