Rearranged the porch

Wasn't sure if this classified as on-topic or not, so decided to post over here. After washing and painting the porch, I decided to rearrange, and moved this old cupboard base underneath a window. It was sitting closer to the front door previously. I kind of like it framed by the window and shutters, rather reminds me of an old dresser with mirror. This was a broken down cupboard base I picked up at auction years ago (much to hubby's dismay). I talked him into rebuilding the side of it (which had rotted off) and crackle painted it. I store my seasonal porch decor in it. The cupboard still doesn't have a back, if it did, things would stay a lot cleaner in there! I look forward to moving my house plants here every spring.

Very nice, Arlene. I love the crackle finish and how you decorated it. And that looks like the perfect spot for it under the window. Good job!

That looks really nice. It never occured to me to actually 'clean' something, lol. You can staple a piece of thick plastic or a piece of fabric with a dense weave, maybe an old sheet, to the back of the cabinet to help keep the inside cleaner. Linda

Thanks for the good idea, Linda - I think we have some heavy sheets of plastic around here somewhere. It started out I was just going to move my plants out of the house onto the porch when I realized how filthy the siding was. I decided it was dumb to drag all the plants out and then have to move them all again to hose down the siding. So I ended up washing down the whole porch (56 ft. long) and then decided the floor looked pretty bad too, and needed another coat of paint - was gonna do that last year and never got it done. You know how things snowball. You improve one thing and it makes other things look bad so you just keep doing. Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin to it! Now to go find some plastic and the staple gun.

Perfect spot, luvs2click! Makes the plants show up more with the window behind...and I bet it looks wonderful from the inside, too! Great save on this cabinet! Yeah, luv the idea of fabric stapled to the back (if you want it cleaner!) :-) Jeanne S.
