It was a candy container & is probably of value as antique/collectible. Google "antique candy containers" & you should find some. I am sure they made several lanterns as I came across different descriptions for them in my antique books. an old Schroder's had 6 different ones listed. By finding it on Google you will get an up to date value also. Jan

I had a "mystery statue" that I couldn't find the info about - anywhere. I looked up a couple of "antique forums" and posted the pic & question there. People are more than happy to help ! I think they like indentifying stuff as much as we like finding it !

Yes, I go to the "Antique Forum" on this web site all the time!! Go up to the top of this page where it says "forums" & click & click on "Home Forums" & it is the 1st forum on the list! Altho they may tell you same thing I did!! LOL! Reason I know is that they often tell people to Google it!! Like I said these little candy lanterns, Santas, dolly buggies, etc. used to be what "grandma" thought was just the thing for the grandkids. Most were glass & imagine lot got broke or thrown out after the candy was eaten but lot did survive. Should you find 1 on line with a red base instead of blue the value might be different even tho everything was identical except the color. They may have made thousands of yellow & blue ones but just a few red because of a dye problem or they didn't think they were a good color or they ended up pinkish so quit production. So you have to find an exact match. Just like with colored depression glass. A red bowl is always valued more than most other colors. They only made a few. Jan
