| Hello to all,
I have lurked a lot and gotten some ideas for the future on this forum.
I have a family of small kids, I'm 46 with a wife and I have a hard job and run a U pick orchard.
I would like to build folk, garden, oddball art for the orchard in the future. Things from our past that people can enjoy and take picture with.
Now I have come across a shoow that has tons of garden art in it. It is on PBS called rare visions and roadside revelations. It is really awesome.
Any ways I will still lurk and post as I can.
Take care,
Buck |

| I've never heard of that show on PBS, but I will sure try to find it. My DH loves making things for the garden too, so maybe we can find some more inspiration. Glad you decided to post and let us know you're out there Buck! If you get a chance, post some of your creations...we love to see new things and what everyone is working on! |

| Welcome to a fun and creative forum, buckster! I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work. I looked up that show and unfortunately they don't have it on our local PBS stations. I did notice that a number of episodes featured interesting places in Wisconsin. Hopefully our local PBS stations will start featuring it because it looks like fun. Thanks for sharing! |

| You guys are fun..... I'm telling you I really enjoy the show. Alot of artist and odd ball yard art etc. I get tired of watching RFD tv which has some good shows etc. Texas county repoter and such. As for my art it is a time issue right now. I now what I want to do it just I have small kids, church, soccer pratice an orchard etc. you know the drill. I will post an talk as I can. Thanks a ton, Buckster |

| Hey Buck, nice to meet you. I used to get that show when I had Dish Network satelite tv. I highly recommend it. Very enjoyable show. I liked many of the RFDTV programs too. Cool idea to put garden junk/art in the U-Pick Orchard. Have you got anything in mind? When you say you'd like to put stuff in the orchard what do you see? No matter how busy they are, creative people have a need to create. You will find the time, you probably have a slow(er) season, and thinking ahead, you might be able to sell some things too. What kind of orchard is it, if I may ask? A farm stand up north had painted boards that you could stand behind and stick your head through for taking pictures. I think they had a mermaid and a scarecrow and an old fashioned muscleman with a barbell. Fun for the families that stopped there. I'm glad I came back to edit this post, I was trying to remember other things I've seen. In the fall for pumpkin time that place had a corn maze, too. Good luck. Donna |

| Hi Donna, For me right now it is just a time issue. I have a lot of resources for metal and fun stuff right now but just too busy. But what I want is too build animals, art and different stuff that people can stand next to and take pictures. I have an old tractor right now in the orchard and people go craxy over it. I have small kids a job plus taking care of the orchard plus I grow cut flowers too so life is full... BUT Mosaics creation, metal animals, drift wood animals are all on my radar. I will post as I make them. Take care, Buck |

| I wonder if netflix has dvds of this show. It certainly looks interesting. I should think that garden art/junk creations would entice more folks into your orchard. I have a photo of my niece and nephew when both were small posing in front of a large stuffed pumpkin man at a local orchard. So I bet your idea will take off. Best of luck with it. |

Netflix was my thought too because I don't think we get it either. I love the idea of big garden junk/art in the orchard. Its funny how people go nuts over old equipment isn't it? I think I'll suggest the art idea to a friend here who has an orchard. He also has pumpkins and a corn maze in the fall - lots of fun. I've never been to the haunted corn maze on Halloween, but apparently he runs around the maze with a chain saw (without a blade,) among other scarey things. Looking forward to your pics! Kathy |
