| I love the Anthropologie store. I can't afford the clothing there, but the store itself is such a joy to visit. They have loads of ideas in their displays using recycled stuff. Here is the link to that was sent out in their email showing flowers made of plastic bottles. Very cute. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.
Hope this works so you can see it.

| Great display work!! They have some talented people working for them. The bike rims are neat & garden accents. The last pic has a large pop bottle 2 liter I think is size that is yellow, more yellow than the 1 kind of soda that comes in a yellow clear bottle so it must be painted. Must keep someone employed cutting out all those neat flowers!! Jan |

what a coincidence! i have been making beads from the green and clear bottles, and working on flowers. you'll get different colors by using the clear bottles and permanent markers. for the beads you color the part that curves in, which winds up on the inside. i cut away the top and bottom of the bottles and use the smooth center of the bottles. cut it out and cut in half, i get 2 strips from each circle i cut out. everyone that comes in and sees the little bowl of plastic beads thinks they are glass!
i'll be making a tutorial soon, i want to make some danglers for outside out of these, using fishing line to hang them. |

| No problem :D I cut out the smooth part..which is usually the center of the bottle. Then I cut it in half and cut strips out, and cut those strips in half. The width you decide is how wide your bead will be. Then I wrap my strip into a bead shape, and insert needle nose pliers into the hole, and hold it over my gas stove burner. Keep a bowl of water handy in case it catches on fire if it's too close! And make sure you have the pliers inserted where it comes out through the whole bead, other wise one end will melt shut! That happens to me a lot! I try to hold it over the heat about 4" high, but sometimes I'll pass it through the flame a couple times. Then drop it in the water to make it cool. The green bottles really look a lot like glass. To make colored ones, use a clear bottle, and color the inside (curved inward side) with permanent markers. They come out very pretty. I'll be making a tutorial soon as I can, to make beads and flowers for a nice dangler outside. hope this helps. there is already a tutorial on several sites...I went by the Cut Out And Keep Tutorial. http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/plastic_bottle_beads_3 |
