Glass plate & silverware - part 2 - drilling

| You can see the results of my blood , sweat & tears in the picture post of my windchime. Looks good ---- BUT - I had the worst time drilling a hole in the stainless steel silverware . I put a drop of oil on the spot I wanted to drill , but my drill bit kept overheating and breaking off. I wasn't sure whether I should go fast or slow .......or if I had the wrong type drill. ( I just used a regular drill that came in a cheap set for soft material) Does anyone have a " secret " they'd wish to share ? I'd be forever greatful. :-) You guys are great - as always !! Thank you ! |

| I should be a little more clear: Use tungston carbide twist drill bits, not carbide masonry bits. Sorry. dcarch |
