Thank you to all on this inspirational site!

I've been contemplating on making totems for over a year now and I finally made umm a few because I just couldn't stop at one. Here is a pic of my first "batch" :)

Linda, very pretty. I love your different shapes. You are really brave with perching your little bird on top. I am rather new here and I still have a problem posting pics sometimes but it does get easier. Thank you for sharing. - Marylee

Hi marylee, thank you for the nice words. I realized I had to re-size my pics and that is a first for me .. lol
Who would of know that totems would lead to this!

I love totems!! I walk into anywhere with glass stuff and my mind starts thinking oh I could make a totem out of this that and of that other thing over there. I also have started glass plate flowers-My second bedroom is full, the dining room has been taken over - hubby refuses to let me store in the living room!!!

Puggranny, LOL I know what you are going through!
I just started making them and already I have 9 taking over the upstairs, the downstairs is full because I have dishes and glassware everywhere!(been collecting for a year now)
I wonder if there is a self-help section here ... lol
So far I've made a dozen glass plate flowers, they put together very quickly.

    Absolutely lovely.

Thankfully my DBF is very tolerant of my addiction but he now says "Max, step away from the glass" whenever we go to a thrift shop.

LindaArb, I noticed that you live in Canada. I live in Minnesota. I left my favorite clear glass totem outside all winter and it's just fine. I've had trouble selling glass art "junque" in my area because people think it's too fragile to survive the elements.

Clear crystal totems are one of my favorites but I really like the purple you added to yours. I also like totems made out of pottery but reasonably priced pottery is hard to come by here.

    TFS your work.

    Thank you very much Max!
I would love to see your work also.
Yes, I live Ontario, Canada and we have lots of snow and wind. Next winter I will bring in some of my favs but leave my pottery totems out in a sheltered area as I can't wait to see the snow on them.
I go to the local thrift shops and find all my pieces there and the dollar stores.
    Have you heard of Kijiji?
I put an ad on under Home & Garden and have great response and most people have said they can't wait for the nice weather first.
It's worth a try, right now I'm making them for myself, family & friends.
    Bye for now,
    Linda

I always thought we should start a 12 Step program for glass totem addiction! lol! Your totem is gorgeous! I love the purple sparkly with the birdy on top. You have a great eye for combining shapes that look great together. Keep those pictures coming!

OOOHHHH LindaArb you are addicted!! Love them. I've got about 25 in my basement ready for a sale in April. I've sold about 25 of them already. Mine are bird feeder/baths/plant stands. I've turned the plates the opposite way so the water won't collect in them. I've got 3 that I've had outside for 2yr. now and they've done fine.
I love all the colors you use. I've quit :) buying glass now and have about 3 boxes full!!
    Keep the pics coming.

    Chelcass, lol, 2 storage buildings?
Do you lived in Ontario, Canada? :)

Sorie, that is wonderful hear that you have sold 25 already. Do you have pics? It's also great to hear that they weather well and do you get snow where you are?
My hub thinks my totems would be great to sell but I get attached to each one...lol
After todays trip to a huge Re-Use store I now have half the downstairs FULL.

WOW...that purple orb has me drooling on my keyboard. What a great piece.
Your totem is wonderful! First batch huh? I'd say you're a "natural" at this then.

Its such fun to watch folks discover totems then get totally hooked on making them. And every piece of glass you see, you stop and think "hmmmmm...what could I do with that for a totem". LOL

    hugs, Karen
