Has anyone ever baked marbles in the oven ?

I was in a store looking for glass and gems for some projects and I overheard a woman talking about baking marbles in the oven to use in her crafts.

Has anyone ever done this. Seems kind of dangerous to me:-)

I made marbles once out of scuplty clay and baked them for a chinese checker game. Looking forward to being in NS in July.

I've never done it. I bought some at a garage sale, they look really cool. Check out boiled or cracked marbles. Here is a set of instructions for boileing them.

You bake them and then put them in water while they are hot...they crackle...It was a real craze in the 50s...We tried it ...but most of ours fell apart.

I think there were lenghty discussions on that last year. Do a search for this forum on cracked marbles or baked marbles. Might find several.

I guess the right wording in a serch makes all the difference, LOL I was putting in oven baked marbles:-) I'll have to go through my marbles to find ones without the plastic middle.
