Sedum in old solar light

Posted by jennypat Zone 3b NW MN (My Page) on

I saw a picture sometime in the last month in a magazine, of some sedum varieties planted in an old solar light fixture. NOW that I want to look at it again, I can't find it! I know I have the magazine here someplace, but am not sure which one. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I have an antique plant stand that has 11 arms on it, I usually put clay pots of geraniums and such on it. But it is a pain to keep watered. It hit me last night that I could do some of the clay bases, filled with varieties of succulents on it this year. But I wanted to look at that picture again!

thanks
Jenny P

That is a great idea! I did some research but could not find the item you were talking about. I noticed that you can put sedum in so many unusual and shallow containers. Maybe you can put different pot/containers with sedum on each arm. Makes me wish my yard had some sun. Post the finished project, please!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a Best Succulent Container contest with a deadline in August. Maybe you can enter!

Here is a link that might be useful: Best Succulent Container contest

hmm do not remember seeing....but I did see a mag. that had a lady looking out a window in a 'juliet' window. The wrought iron went up to her waist but also way down below the window into a point. They filled it with maybe the same stuff we line baskets with and filled it will succulents. It had both small tight ones and ones that hung down...it was enormous...and beautiful.
