antenna tower arbor

About 10 years ago my dh and ds took down this 40ft antenna tower for someone. Luckily they cut it into 2 equal pcs first and when they got it home, I had them cut each of those in half. A little more cutting and then I had to figure out how to bend rebar.

I had a clear vision from the beginning of what I wanted to do with it, just didn't know exactly where I wanted to put it. I tried it in many different places and finally settled on right in the middle of my garden.

And here it is, 10 years later still a work in progress, but it's closer than it's ever been.

There will be 3 more rebar pcs connecting the corners and I will probably pound t bar fencing posts at each corner to secure it to the ground.

It's kinda cool the way it goes together, like a kit. The rebar slips into the metal pipe (you can't see the top pcs for the trees, but they cross) and really holds it together better than I ever expected.

lol gary, I know what you mean. Where DOES the time go?!!

pkponder and Jan, I have a white rose (Prosperity)planted on either side that will eventually get big enough to train up over it, but I'm not sure that's the way I want to go.
I'm thinking I would like the evergreen-ness of ivy, which I can dig up starts from elsewhere in the yard.
But also have Heavenly Blue and Grandpa Ott morning glory seeds started just in case. Might go with that this summer just for fun.

Looks great! & you did a great job on 'bending' rebar for the arches! Will look cool w/most anything planted around it! Nice save! Jeanne S.

That is fantastic! Some of the more dramatic clematis varieties would look wonderful here too - I love the idea of roses and morning glories, though. And the statuary at the back looks perfect, like the "destination" you're headed to when you walk under the arbor.
