Going to the Chapel Birdhouses and a Few Others

Thought it would be fun to share some of my birdhouses... This first one is made from old ceiling tins from an old church. Got it on EBay at a great price (less than $10) and sanded it down so it would rust. I LOVE RUST! Placed it on my rustic fence in my backyard. If those tins could tell a story.

This birdhouse is one that also sits on my rustic fence in our side yard. Took this photo for our Christmas card last year. Love the snow on the church.

This one is a jar birdhouse I bought from a catalogue...the birds moved right in!!!!

This is a birdhouse made from a little bit of everything!!! It has a rusty, metal roof and all kinds of doodads.

Finally, this birdhouse I made from an old, hollowed out log. I drilled a hole for the opening, added an old doorknob and cedar shakes for the roof. The squirrels moved into this one. See that piece of ladder? That was leftover from the garden trellis I made out of an extension ladder that I posted awhile back. (Can you tell that tree was hit by lightning? Didn't kill it though. Just scared us!!!!)

I am such a avid birdwatcher! Thought I'd share a few of my birdhouses. I'll post more in the future! Enjoy! I am so inspired by the ones displayed and made on GardenWeb Junk postings!!! Kirk

Loved seeing your birdhouses, they are wonderful. I've never heard of one like the jar birdhouse, really neat idea. What is that gorgeous bird perched by it?
I love birds but have no really interesting, pretty ones here in Phx.

I second Purplemoon's comments and question (though I live in Michigan, and we do have some really pretty birds). What is that bird? It is so striking with it's teal color and sharp markings! Your jar birdhouse reminds me of some of the teapot birdhouses on this forum. I need to make some of those! Kathy

Very pretty birdhouses. Same question goes for me also - is that a green back swallow or something, looks like a swallow?

Someone else said it, all I get are spiders and other creepy crawly things living in my birdhouses. Squirrels go crazy climbing on the shed roof to get to the birdfeeders.

Love all the birdhouses, but I especially love the jar birdhouse. I've never seen anything like it. The bird is so pretty too. I have lots of cardinals here and my Dh has seen painted buntings but I never have. Janet

WOw...these are great. I really love them. My father is an avid bird watcher also. He'd love your style of bird houses..I see the birds do also!!

They are all great birdhouses Kirk! And I love swallows too!! My fav is chickadees, then hummers, then swallows, then crows!!!

that birdhouse you made out of a hollowed out log reminds me of a man's face. the doorknob is his nose. name it w.c. fields.
