Thrift store box of chess pieces, and styrofoam, glass tiles.

I am making a flower pot on a pedestal out of the things above. This is the layout of the pedestal for the pot so far.

I used GE II silicone caulking to put the box together. Attaching the tile and chess pieces with outdoor caulking.

Can you grout this? Lookin' pretty cool! TFS! Jeanne S.

That should look great! I guess you filled in the side where it was low with something. Does grout stick to styrofoam? Jan

Thanks for looking. I do not plan to grout. They are glass tiles and the caulking pretty much is between the tiles. I have brown caulking.

Jan I did cut pieces of stryo to cover the holes and the scoop sides. I use pieces of styrofoam to make boxes it is easy to cut and make them any size you want just spread some caulking on and slap them together.

Finished now I need to put plants in. Will post when I get it planted up.

I feel good that I saved the landfill of a little bit of styrofoam and maybe next year we will not have 2 months of 100 degree temps and all my plants suffer. lol

Looks great! I think the foam will help keep roots of plants cooler too than a regular pot. Can't wait to see it planted, lots of room for plants to trail down sides. TFS Jan

I think this turned out great! I had a hard time visualizing how it would end up at first, but the after-result is really neat! Rocks & chess pieces work together nicely. Can't wait to see what you plant in it!
