GF had 1 in her yard that was about 6-7 ft tall. It had a windmill that went around in the wind but could use an old large metal fan's blade section &wind would make it go around. Probably have to bolt it on the top tho with bad wind conditions so it would be safer. Your lucky to get such a nice piece. GF's stood in her front yard for at least 40 yrs & most of time the blades were going around even tho we don't have all that much wind a lot of the year. (Maybe it was cars going by all day!) Just fun to see tho!

I would definitely put some kind of whirlygig or wind spinner on the top. Check Google images for some creative ideas. You can make one or buy one
I lived in Norman for many years, I know exactly what you mean about the wind! I don't know how many times I had to go fishing in my pool for various items that took flight and landed there!

I just saw this one made with old spoons that would be very easy to make and had to post a link. I would paint them bright colors.
I also saw several made from aluminum soda cans and plastic liter bottles.
See now I am going to have to make some spinners lol!

Great ideas but DH has a pacemaker and can no longer weld. Have to keep looking.

This is a small attic turbine the we just mounted on a porch post. It spins in the wind; we have another one that I painted each fin a different color and that looks nice too.

What about planting it in a barrel or something...it would help weigh the thing down and keep it from going air born. Then you could also plant a vine to climb up the thing.
