I was perusing Flickr GJ and came across this garden light. It's kind of cool. This one was made with a fluorescent light. I could totally see this in glass blocks with the use of solar lights, especially the colored ones!

| Makes a cool night time light, doesn't it? I have to say it's a bit rough looking in the daylight though, but the idea is very interesting! |

| I agree, the glass blocks would look better during the day. I wonder how bottles mortared together like that would look with lights inside. They would look prettier than the bricks during the daylight hours. That does look very cool at night though. |

| Well, personally, I LOVE the rough bricks in the daylight! The contrast between the rustic bricks and fresh flowers is wonderful. |

| I love the bricks, too! Looks like it would be a good project if you had to "hide" something that you didn't like showing in your garden area...afraid solar or little mini-lights wouldn't show thru those bricks & be too hot inside glass blocks probably (out in the weather, anyway), Pretty cool looking at night! | Luna, as always, I love your idea! I've never mortared anything together, though I've done tuckpointing. Would definitely be an interesting project to try. I like the look of the bricks as they are, but I think it would be fabulous if they were painted a festive turquoise color! As for the solar lights, I think they would work with glass blocks? I wouldn't put the lights inside of the blocks themselves, but inside of the entire structure. I use solar lights in all of my outdoor projects, aside from gazing balls (LOL) So far they all work wonderfully well underneath and within glass pieces. |

| That's good to hear about your solar lights working in your outdoor projects...my mind was thinking "inside" the glass blocks. The outdoor mini-lights I've used inside wine bottles & glass blocks ...but never had them be put outside in the weather, cold or heat...they were indoor decor...so don't know how they would hold up. I do like this brick wall with the flo lights! Jeanne S. |

After everyone's comments, I'm still out on this one. The bricks have a rustic charm (but could be tidier) and I love the idea of glass blocks too. I'm still on the fence, oh well since my project list is soooooooo long, I'll worry about it later. Frou |

I think the wall is cool. I agree glass blocks would be awesome....but then again use what ya got for the time being. tbledsaw........what is tuckpointing???? I'm new to this forum and have never heard of that before...sure is an intersting name. |

| Tuckpointing is when you remove old mortar between bricks (usually in a foundation) and you replace it with new mortar. Not a very fun job. |
