I just picked up 5 pieces of honed slate on craigslist. Each is 3 x 5 feet and 1 1/2 inches thick. They were from bumper pool tables that a bowling alley was giving away free!!! They had 2 more, but I was worried about the weight in the truck. I may go back and get the other 2 if they are still there this evening.

I'm thinking either redo the kitchen counter or use them to make a long worktable/bench for a potting shed. Of course, then I would need a potting shed!!!

I took a chance this morning that they would still be there after I drove 45 minutes. They were posted last night but this morning when I called, they checked and said they were still there. They said there were others interested. While I was there, someone else came to look at some of the doors and other stuff they were also giving away. Hope they didn't take the rest of the slate!
