OK Laura,

so I'll just say upfront that I am not a gravel/rock person. The gravel you are talking about is it pea gravel or bigger? If it is the bigger one I'd suggest putting some pea gravel in and pounding it with one of those compacting vibrating machines. If the gravel is pea gravel use a sand for interlocking bricks (a coarse sand) and using the compacter for the same method as previous. Also it may not completely solve the problem. Let us know what you end up doing and post a before and after photo.

I have recently used sand and some concrete powder, mixed together, more sand than concrete, and swept it into the cracks, then watered it to kinda "set" it. Maybe adding that to the gravel area would help keep it in place. I was told it helps to keep weeds away too. It's kinda a cheap mans version of granite chip gravel...that packs down nicely.

There is a spray at home depot that you use when you lay a crushed granite down. We bought some at Home Depot or Lowes one time. Just ask for assistance. It may have been in the tiling department.

Thanks to all of you for your input. It's not pea gravel. Can't remember what it's called, but it's supposed to pack similar to what we have on our driveway. I've thought about sprinkling concrete in the cracks, then misting if, but the sand and concrete sounds good. Also, I'll check the spray at home depot and lowes.
