Shutter Birdhouse

My friend found this idea on the web. We used garage sale shutters, recycled barn wood, old tin and old headboard post. I couldn't find one on this site so wanted to share it with you. Drilled hole 5" from bottom and a wren has been using it even though it's a "thick" entrance.

Oh my gosh! Beautiful! You could sell those for a pretty penny! What kind of recycled tin did you use? That is just clever, clever, clever!!!! I collect birdhouses and have them all over our property...I want one like yours! Thank you for inspiring me! Kirk

I have been collecting shutters for different ideas,a birdhouse being one. Check out Roboladys site,lots of trash to treasure ideas there.

It is beautiful...I have some also waiting for a project. One thought, I may put in dividers and make it a condo.

Oh my goodness, that is just beautiful! I'm a birdhouse collector, and one like that would just be the ultimate for me!! I've made a few birdhouses, but I always have a tough time cutting a straight line. I'm sure it's the tools I'm using, not me!

To answer one question, the tin is an old ceiling tin recycled from a torn-down building.

Wonderful, I want some power tools now. I also have an old key plate off of my shed door, DH just doesn't know that I am going to use it one day for a junk project, and he probably won't even notice it missing. I am going to use that for the front. Now to find some cute little shutter like that.

Oh...I love your birdhouse! I want one! Unfortunately the only shutters I have to make one with...would make a birdhouse so big a prehistoric bird could fit in it! lol
