Painted bottle label removal

Posted by bluestar_tam 5 (My Page) on

I recently scored 4 cobalt blue wine bottles for 25 cents each. The bottle labels are painted on. I put paint remover on them last night to remove the paint, but it is not coming off!! Any ideas on how to remove it without damaging the bottles?
Thanks,
Tam

I have the same problem. I never found anything other than emery paper that takes those off. They are not paint. The labels are actually fired onto the bottles and fuse to surface of the glass. I just glued half marbles over the labels.

I'm anxious to hear if anyone else has found anything that works without leaving a dull patch on the glass.

I think I am going to try to take fire to it to see what it will do. I tried 2 different paint removers but to no avail. Crazy! Some of the design is pretty and I wouldn't mind if it stayed on there, but all of the text and the UPC code need to go! LOL
