I need some advice

I have a pretty pink bowling ball. For months I have debated on what I want to do with it.
I do know that I want to use clear marbles to make the shape of the breast cancer ribbon. I was hoping the pink would show through the clear marbles.
Now I am thinking of using a colored marble and spacing them as if I were going to grout, but I want the pink to show through as if it were the grout. What color marbles should I use for around the ribbon shaped clear marbles?
Am I making any sense? lol
And will the pink show through the clear marbles if I use GE II? |

| Mornin Nursemaid, definitely yse GEII for your bb. Yes the pink in the bb will show thru the clear gems. I'm thinking you should use a dark colored gem to outline your ribbon shape. The gems do not fit tight because of their round shape, so will allow the color of the ball to show through. Be sure to post pix. Kat |

| If it were my ball I'd use a darker pink marble to do the ribbon.... that way the rest of the pretty pink ball will still be visible. Once I did a Green Bay Packer ball. The ball was green, so I taped out and painted a bright yellow G on the front. I used all clear marbles for it and the colors def stood out....It was a lot of work but worth it. My point would be to paint a darker ribbon under your marbles to make it more defined... then use the pink marbles over the paint... then clear marbles on the rest of the pink ball. You may have inspired me on this one.. I have a ball waiting for inspiration and this may be it. Now I'm going to be on the hunt for pink marbles. |

Both are good ideas. I usually paint my BB white before gluing on the half marbles. That way I can try out the colored marbles on a sheet of white paper, and get an idea of how it will look/how the colors will show up. I'm not doing that with this pink BB. Painting the ribbon with a darker pink sounds like what I should do. Now I just wish I could paint! lol Thank you both for the ideas :) |

| Hey Becky, you might have a time finding pink gems. If you find any give me a shout. The cancer ribbon one that I made I painted my clear gems with pink polish. I have ordered gems from Yes Supply Company. Their prices aren't too bad and they have a good asstmt. Kat |

I would try Micheal's for pink gems.. they have never failed me when i was looking for a certain color. however, by painting the color darker underneath, she wouldn't really even need pink gems--- clear would work just as well. OR use the clear shiny ones for the ribbon and get the matte beach glass ones (harder to find) for the rest of the ball. I've also seen smaller gems at Hobby Lobby which would work well for the ribbon. It might make it easier to form the shape too. |

| Be careful with the BB. I had a pretty pink one so I thought I would just leave it that way. I put it out on my recyled stand. It didn't stay pretty for long. The Sun turned the color. No more pretty pink BB. Does anyone know how to keep BB's color. |
