| I just won $100. for a Scarecrow contest at our local library.
My Dad grew the gourds that I used to make the puppets, in NE Alabama soil. The gourds are on a stick with bells and also some gourd seeds that rattle. Their names are Rick and Geraldine. The scarecrow is named Sheryl "CROW". |

| I knew your "Sheryl Crow" would win! I'm glad you entered her. And I just love your gourd jack-o-lanterns. They are the cutest things. I noticed that Martha Stewart had similar gourds on a stick but hers were painted like skeletons. The one looked like the lead character in the move The Nightmare Before Christmas. |

| I'll have to look for Martha's. My only inspiration was Jose Jalapeno (the puppet "on a stick) and some victorian type toy pictures that were shadows in my mind. Also I love these German looking Holiday illustrations from the prewar days. They "owned" Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc. decoration factories. So it was a composite. After my Dad left our home place to go to Arizona for Cancer treatment, I had to check on the house. He had left these gourds lined up for me in the parking area so that I would be sure to find them. Anyway, I'll look to see how Martha made hers. |
