chandelier

A while back, I was looking for suggestions for some old round white light bulbs from one of those ugly 80's bathroom lights. I loved the chandeliers I saw on GJ (especially the one with the birds nests), but we have so many cobwebs that silk flowers or anything that is too delicate to dust wouldn't work. The ugly old bulbs fit the chandelier ($1 at the Habitat store), so I glued some glass marbles left over from my bling tree onto the bulbs. It doesn't light up, but the glass gives it some sparkle... I'm thinking of wrapping a small string of Christmas lights around it.

Awesome idea! I bet it'd be neat mosaiced with stained glass too. I am always on the look out for an old chandelier but they are all so expensive around here. I'd like to hang one on my balcony. Your idea would even be cool indoors. TFS!

Try the clear bulbs with the globs...

I absolutely love this idea of the glass globs on the bulbs. Luna, I know what you mean. I'm keeping an eye out for a chandy, but the ones I find are expensive.

Good idea!!!!
I have several chandeliers, so now have several ideas on what to do with them---Procrastination--you know! I still do want to do a show in the spring, so maybe-just 'maybe'- I will soon get busy on some of these.

Great idea about the clear bulbs..it would look really nice with some white Christmas lights shining through... if you have a Habitat for Humanity store around, they should have some chandeliers. They had about a half a dozen when I went in, all for one or two dollars, and this is a really small town.

Really like your choice of colors for the glass globs...turned out really nice!

OMGoodness, I love it. What a great idea. I even like the colors you used. I bought a really nice chandi at a GS to go on the porch, but it doesn't hold globes. Now I have to look for one like that. Our Habitat for Humanity Restore has them, but they are so pricey. They range from $20.00 and up.

I noticed people are looking for old chandeliers. If you live in Oregon, here in Eugene we have a recycle center where I bought 2 chand in very good shape. They will go indoors, & I found an website with very good prices for Swarovski and Czech beads and crystals. There are always all kinds of chands & lite fixtures & lamps there. I'm going tomorrow to find a lamp to start a totem (thx to all the beautiful examples on this site.!)
