My ugly green lamp & some more plate flowers

Bought this ugly green lamp at a gs for $1. It was only the base, the round green piece and the brass piece above it. My gs buddy would ask what I was gonna do with it every time I picked something up at another gs. Now that I have it finished, I can shop in peace again! :0) I put some solar lights in the round piece but need to go back in and tape them down so they are better positioned. Also, a few more plate flowers I've been working on. Trying to get enough stuff to go to a craft show beginning of Dec. Have a good one! ~Ann

I don't see anything ugly!! Looks fine to me. Love the red& crystal plate flower & the egg platter with the turquoise gems!! What did you mosaic those things on tennis balls or softballs? Nice job! Jan

Ann I think the lamp bases make nice bases for totems. Your is unusual, but the pieces you have used to go with make it fit. I like it. Good luck with sales in Dec.

I LOVE the lamp base! Great score for you! Your totems and plate flowers are lovely. I really like the deviled egg plate flower....hmmmm...I think I have about five of those...now where are they???

And, what are the little mosaiced balls made out of?

You gotta love GSs, I hardly ever find $1.00 lamps anymore, that one is great. I never thought of using egg plates, that is beautiful. I think I am going to do a show Dec 5th, also. Thanks for sharing.

Cool use of the lamp. I like hte egg plate flower especially also. But price it well! I was looking for a glass egg plate for my dd and they are expensive at flea markets - upwards of $20. (needless to say, I'm still looking)

Gibs, I enjoyed your album!
I collect egg plates, so I would probablty
NOT used an egg plate for a flower.
When I made small balls, I used plastic
softballs and baseballs that I bought at
$Tree. Made them before hurricane Ivan and
they are still standing-LOL I bought a bunch
of the of the packs of balls-4 to a pack-and
still have a couple of packs. Will do some
more one of these days-LOL

Love the eggplate with the jems! What a pretty color. And I love the curvy green glass of the lantern and the lamp base. Hope you do good at the craft show.

I actually like that 'ugly' lamp base! The glass part kinda looks like a giant bead, and I love beads! The egg plate with gems is also a knock-out! Great work!!

Thanks everyone for all your great comments! The mosaiced (is that a word?) balls are "hi bounce" balls I get at WallyWorld for less than $1. They are probably just a little bit smaller than a tennis ball and hard as a rock. Must confess that the turquoise gems are actually a picture frame that I put a piece of tinfoil in the picture part of. Didn't want y'all to think I had patience or something! :0) Syble, good luck at your sale also. Have a good one!

All wonderful pieces! I think those old ugly lamps look great in the garden. You did a super job repurposing yours. Love all the plate flowers. Great idea to use the little picture frame for the center of the flower. Thanks for sharing!

LUV LUV LUV the glass plates and solar lights. They would look sooo cool in my hodge podge garden against my old house.

Thanks Luna. That's the 1st lamp I've used, but for a $1 I couldn't resist. Novice ~ can't wait to see what YOUR plate flowers and lights look like in your garden. :0)

Some of the best looking ones I've seen.
I love the little "ball" thingys! I will definately make some of those!
Good luck at the craft show.

Whats the best way to attach the "flower" you've made to the conduit(pipe)?

I use copper "Bell hangers" that were suggested on here. Some people use a flattened spoon. As you are looking around, you will see the different versions.
