Satellite dishes

Any ideas of what can be done with the Dish or Direct TV dishes? We have three of them (and the companies don't seem to want to take them down and haul them away.) It seems that something could be done. No on the bird bath idea although it would be great --- too many barn cats live here.

A friend just finished mosaicing her iial on one and then built an easel type stand and has set it in her flower bed. It is gorgeous and one would never know it was a sattelite dish

Someone used the dish upsidedown as a mushroom top. They painted it of course to look more like a mushroom.

I had an extra one with mount. I put it on the front porch post across from the one in use. My dear friend Charla passed away and I made this a memorial to her and used the sunflower because she was my sun shine.

Now the dish that was in use has been canceled with no plan to use it again. Another friend has passed away last December. I will do a memorial for her too when I can emotionally handle it.

I hope to hang crystals from the brackets of the dish and just have not found the right ones yet.

Forgot to say what a fantastic idea to use an easel to hold one in the flowerbed. NOW I am going to have to look for a third one.

LOL and yes bird baths are out of the question here too. We have 5 out side barn cats only they are porch cats here. And my husband just ran off two skunks a few minutes ago. GGGRRRRR

We were given one of those igloo dog houses and wanted to put it under a table on the porch out of the way. It was too tall so my husband cut the top off and used a dish in the hole to fill it in. Works great.

Some of them are kind of oval. I would love one of those. Going to have to check the dump.

    This is the back side.

Nona I love your bird bath, and shades your work is lovely.
I have a big old dish that I should do something with. I've seen the big ones as tops of gazebos.

Thank you sorie6, nonacook and Kathy. It was fun and sad to do. I know what I want on the other memorial for my friend Clair. I just need to work up the courage to start on it. she was my longest friend of over 40 years and I am still pretty shattered loosing her.

I have some old HUGE satellite fins. I am wondering if I could attach them to a small dish to make an arbor of them I had four of them hooked together for a thin arbor but 6 around a dish might be kind of fun. Always need shade here. I will have to give it a try next spring.

I am a totem lover. I just bought a lamp for the electric fittings for the mannequin lamp I am working on. The lamp happens to have a pretty black base. I have some white milk glass pieces. I am seeing a black and white totem in my future. :^)

In case you didn't know you can sell them, people with RV and travel trailers buy them to take for portable satellite television. I have been looking for one myself for our RV.
Craigslist and ebay, sites like that have them listed. So before you make them not usable you may want to try selling it.
I have direct tv, I can take my dvr box from my house in the RV but I have to have a dish to go with it.

    That memorial mosaic is beautiful.

I mosaiced one and put it under a condensation drip line from the a/c and it functions as a butterfly waterer.
