Question for Texas Weed on Tifway 419

| TW, we have just finished a pool here in Keller and are looking to get some grass laid fairly quickly to reduce soil erosion. we have contacted a couple of companies but most said they will not have any 419 until march. is that typically the case this time of year or has there just been a run on this grass for home builders?
thanks for your input! |

| Well unfortunately due to an extremely cold winter and freeze damage, us sod farmers are holding off supplies until we see what survived, and what price the market will bear. I am just north of DFW and lost most all Saint Augustine, and Bermuda damage is unknown. So we are waiting until March to see how much damage there is and what price point we can sell at. Expect very high prices and limited availability. |

| thanks TW for the quick reply. we did have a landscaper say he could get the grass ordered and have it delivered by wednesday of next week but now with what you're saying, i'm concerned that it would be dead and then have to be replaced again in the spring. |

| I don't think you have anything to worry about. |

| TW, had the grass laid yesterday, do i need to go ahead and hit it with some starter fertilizer? also, when i put my pre-emergent out here in a couple of weeks, it's ok to put that on new sod as well right? |

| I have some thoughts on your questions but I usually embarrass myself by replying before TW ;-) I just wanted to say I'm glad you went ahead with the sod. How does it look (dormant or green)? I think that will bear on TW's reply about the fertilizer. |

| dchall, i understand completely where you're coming froom there on your reply.....:) the grass looks good but it's all still dormant. not any green at all to be located. i'm very glad we went ahead and put down as well. so much rain lately it's washing all my dirt away! |
