sorry if this is the wrong category. i didnt know where else to put it.

you know those grass heads that people buy? see below

well i want to grow some grass in a pot to keep in my room. (like in the link below)

http://www.lifelikeplants.com.au/images/PPA82912023.jpg

anyway when i got my grass head.the instructions said to soak it in water for 3 minutes, then to sit it in the cup and keep the water level filled. and a week later the grass grew. so i figured i could use that some concept to grow grass in a pot.

i got a ceramic pot and filled with soil and i soaked the grass seeds and put them in the pot and throughly watered it so the soil is wet.

this should work right? aslongs as i keep it wet?

Theoretically yes, but there are few things to keep in mind. Grass seed needs to be kept moist continually until germination as you said, but it would be a good idea to cover the grass seed with a very thin layer of soil (1/8 inch) to prevent dessication and increase seed to soil contact. Now once your grass germinates it needs to get a sufficient amount of light to thrive. Depending on the type of grass, it will require anywhere from 3-8 hours of light per day. Also you will need to "mow" it regularly for it to stay upright and mature. What type of grass are you growing?

An easy trick is to just put a clear plastic baggie over the pot to keep the moisture in. You just want to make sure that there is some headroom so the germinating grass doesn't hit the plastic. Also, depending on how warm your house is, you may want to sit the pot on top of the fridge or other area that collects heat.

As pointed out above though, you probably don't want to use grass seed intended for a lawn. They all need more sunlight that you are likely to get even in a window.
