I just got some grass for free that someone dug out of their lawn.where i am putting it hasnt had grass growing their in a long time was rocks i got all the rocks out and i am going to put the grass down tomorrow. this isnt the right way to do it but i dont have any money for fertilizer or anything to do it right so i will just see what happens. so i have 2 piles of leaves that have been in piles for a couple months 1 partly composted because i mixed grass in with it.so my question is would help or hurt to put all the leaves down or mix into the soil before i put the grass down.

I'd just put the sod down and skip the leaves for now.

+1. Keep the compost going and then just sprinkle the finished product over the area once it has decomposed. Sods needs good soil contact to root properly.

ok thanks for the help
