Moss never "attacks" - it just fills in areas where other plants and grasses can't do well, so nutrients wind up being left for the asking. Moss is a symptom of a broader underlying problem. The most typical problems are deep shade, soil compaction and low pH - and combinations of those are very common. You can kill the moss with Iron Sulfate or some Zinc compounds, or Potassium Soaps of Fatty Acids, but it will return again and again until the underlying problem(s) are fixed.

You've got to address the underlying issue to deal with moss.... OR try to grow something else besides grass that can grow in those conditions...

Ferns and sedges will often grow along side moss and can make a nice landscape feature.
