It is called Thistel.

Thanks. I didn't know it was a winter plant. My bermuda is full of this thistle. Should I just wait until summer for the bermuda to take over, or should I go after it now? Best plan of attack? This bermuda was just seeded last summer, don't want to hurt it!

Any suggestions from the experts?

Just pull these out of the ground. They come out easily. I pulled out a couple of these last year, and haven't seen any sign of them since.

If it's the same weed I pulled out, they're kind of sharp so don't hurt your hand.

Neat weed though; I was almost sorry to pull it out. Maybe I should have kept the two I had. They don't seem very prolific, so probably no danger of a thistle epidemic.
