| Bought Lesco 0-0-7 with 0.10% Dimension and planning to apply tomorrow just in time for rain. Soil temps cracked 50 on Sunday and we're getting high 50s readings now. Bag rate is 4.13#/K and a split (half-rate) app can be used. Max per application is 11.47#/K and max per year is 34#/K.
My question is what's the problem with applying @ the 4.13 rate now and again in 2-3 months? Would that be too much or overkill? "Where split fertilizer applications are recommended, the rates in Table 1 may be split
"Use of split (half-rate) applications spaced 6-8 weeks apart may provide improved weed

| Oops, it looks like you already applied it. I would apply it according to the label directions for your state and mowing conditions. Using more might be a waste and is against the law. Depending on the severity of your weed problem, splitting the dose seems to be a good way. The label says you may use it again in fall, which would total up to the maximum application per year. Fertilizers and herbicides/pesticides are expensive and do have an impact on living things. I prefer to use as little as possible. Dimension is longer acting than most chemicals of this type so it is more forgiving with timing. But timing of the pesticide application is usually very important in gaining control of the problem pest or weed. Some weeds should be treated in spring and some in fall. I used dimension last spring to combat japanese stiltgrass in my lawn. It worked beautifully and I had practically none where I spread it. I am working on building more lawn than weeds by using some chemicals. But most important will be to fertilize in May and September to get the lawn to choke out the weeds. |
