| I know this might be inflammatory to some, but here goes. My yard already has a good amount of clover in it, and I'd like to speed up it's spread and increase it's density. While some people hate clover in their yards, I love it! It fixes nitrogen, so I can bag the clippings to build rich compost, and it also attracts large numbers of bees for my garden and orchard.
What I'm wondering is, can I just walk through my yard with a bag of white clover seed and sprinkle it in, or do I have to apply some sort of herbicide first to thin out and/or kill off some of the grass? Thanks! |

| I think the body of knowledge on how to properly seed clover is rapidly dying away. You might find a phone number for a seed company that sells Dutch white clover and call them. ...and then tell us what they said. Since clover is such a "weed," it will probably work just like you want it to by scattering the seeds throughout the lawn and watering lightly every day for a week or so. |
