I live in a relatively new, 2yr old development in Austin, TX. The front lawn is Tiff/Bermuda 419. My biggest problem has been very hard soil. I over seeded last fall with an annual rye grass to give me some color. Right now the lawn looks great but I know the rye is going to die off soon. My plan for action in the coming weeks was to:
1) core aerate and compost
2) over seed with a Prima, Princess77 or Yukon seed
3) add AquaSmart to the aerated soil to help with water retention
However,
After reading the forum, I'm thinking I can get better results by simply applying the baby shampoo and alfalfa pellets for soil compaction and water retention and just letting the Tiff/Bermuda naturally overtake the annual rye grass.
Any guidance as to my best course of action would be greatly appreciated!
