Grass Identification

This just appeared this spring in my yard. Is it worth encouraging?

We live about 20 miles east of Raleigh NC.

If there are no adverse effects from letting it grow, I do need grass where it is at, so probably will let it stay.

Either Bentgrass, Poa Trivialis, or Kentucky Bluegrass.

If Bent or Poa Trivialis, you don't want it. If Blue, yes.

The picture is so small I can't really tell for sure, but I know what's green around here this time of year.

You are probably in Knightdale or Wendell?

RE: Grass Identification

Thank you I will keep and eye on it.

We just bought the house 18 months ago, and I am working on the front yard.

There is a near bare spot in the back yard where they piled the dirt when they put in the leach bed. I have been patterning the mowing so the grass clippings end up on it.

This patch appear several weeks ago, so I suspect it is something already existing in the yard, but it looks different. I suspect that the back yard was planted with a contractor's mix which could have been anything. Though it appears to be mostly fescue

Neither, about 12 miles from one and 8 miles from the other, in the middle of tobacco, goat and horse farms
