hello - my lawn took a major hit last year even after all the time & effort i made to save it during our brutal summer - i had scheduled to have it all taken up in the fall & hydroseeded by the contractor that installed my last lawn but fall came too early & w/ leaves falling i had him wait until spring - i am somewhat afraid to have it done in the spring especially if we have another bad summer - has anyone had any experience or any suggestiions about hydroseeding home lawns & what about waiting until fall? - any help would be greatly appreciated - thank you

Your interpretation of fall was off a little. For grass people, fall means...as soon as the summer heat breaks. In the north that means late August. In Alaska it might mean July. In the south, well, we don't seed in the fall anyway so it doesn't matter.

Wait until fall as redefined above. Waiting until the leaves fall is far too late in the "fall."

(Oh that David is missing his obvious clues for deep and infrequent!)

Your lawn took a major hit last year, you say? Why was that? What happened?
What kind of lawn do you have already?
Where in Ohio are you (it's 300 miles long) Cincinnati is different than Cleveland climate-wise.
Are you able / willing to water regularly during summer?
How high were you mowing before this "hit last year"?
Did you use an insecticide as a preventative prior to this "hit last year"?

hello again & thank you for the replies - my contractor & my schedule just did not meet so it became too late in the fall is what i meant by fall - i have kbg, was watering at leats 1" per week as always, no fert, always mow to the highest setting on my mower, use organics when i do fert, no insecticide, - it is 10-15 years old & was in great shape but for some reason it is a total loss & i just gave up on it & decided to replace it - i am outside cleveland (akron ohio) - thank you again

What does 1 inch per week mean? Does that mean 1/7 inch every day or 1 inch every Sunday? And what did you do in the cool months? And how do you know you are getting an inch?
