Too late to apply crabgrass killer??

I just returned to Northern Indiana from Arizona. My neighbor says it is not too late to apply pre-emergent crabgrass killer but with the warm spring I think otherwise. Can anyone help me out, I want to apply the stuff but wonder if it's worth it?

There is no such thing as a "pre-emergent crabgrass killer". It's either one or the other.

Some crabgrass has emerged already ... more will germinate once soil temperature rise again. Crabgrass is easy to kill.
