Crabgrass Preventer before or after snowstorm?

According to the NWS - Minneapolis, the soil temperatures in our area are approaching the temp where crabgrass germinates (55F). So I would normally spread the crabgrass preventing fertilizer.

Question is: we have a winter storm predicted for tomorrow. 8 or more inches of snow is expected. Should I spread the fertilizer/preventer before or after the snow melts?

If I do it before I'm afraid that it will break down too quickly and soak into the ground without doing any "preventing". If I wait till the snow melts, it'll be too late as the fertilizer won't have enough time to break down and be effective.

Help! Do I spread today or wait????
