Lots of weeds/large lawn

I am a newer homeowner in NJ (zone 6) currently trying to rehab my decent sized (1.5 acre) lawn that we not well kept by the previous owner. The lawn has a good deal of weeds, about 50% of the yard - wild onion/garlic, dandelions, chickweed and crabgrass being the majority. Last year, I mowed down about 1/3 of the worst part of the lawn that was all crabgrass, raked out and re-seeded in early September and had some new lawn established and mowed 3 times before the end of fall. This year, I had put down Scotts Fertilizer with Halts March 3 to ensure some pre-emergent protection (put it down too late last year), and sprayed then entire yard April 1 with Bayer Weed Killer for lawns as there were an amazing amount of weeds that were previously established since last year due to the very mild winter.

Any advice as to where to go from here to kill the established weeds? If I do not see a large weed die off, should I spray the yard with Bayer Lawn weed killer again in a couple of weeks or should I get Scotts Turfbuilder plus 2 and put that down in late April? Any advice for the remainder of this year? I am trying to be aggressive with the weeds, but do not have the time or money to start from scratch with 1.5 acres of grass.

Thanks!

Most herbicides take longer than 2 days to show any affects. If the weeds are still alive and kicking in 2 weeks, then you should reapply. Some weeds might not be killed by the Bayer, in which case you will need to identify those and use some more specific herbicides.
