Lawn Help!!

Hoping to get some advice on our front lawn which has 2 different types of grasses: fescue & bermuda. We had an island of 8 pine trees removed late last summer. The yard is overtaken with about 85% of weeds at the moment. The area where the pine trees stood was once covered in pine straw but we have removed it & that area has no grass & just a few weeds. Basically the middle of our lawn is just dirt.

My best guess is that the we have crabgrass, dandelions and chickweed (I did a google image search) weeds that have taken over the lawn.

Home Depot associate suggested we apply Weed B Gone to kill the weeds for now which we applied last weekend. We're seeing results of that now but we're wondering what the next step should be. He suggested that we don't cut it but it looks like a jungle out there right now.

Once the weeds are dead, will this allow the grass to grow again? Should we wait till May or June and overseed the lawn? Is there anything we should do now before it's time to overseed? Should we overseed the fescue area with Bermuda seed? Should we aerate the lawn first?? So many questions.

The lawn is too big to sod & start all over again (can't afford that option).

Any advice is appreciated. We live in metro Atlanta, GA :)
