Acorns from winter sprouting in lawn

As the title says, I have a bunch of oak trees in my back yard (standing tall over my fescue lawn) and this winter they seemed to drop ALOT of acorns. Well, these acorns are now sprouting all over my lawn. I tried to get most of them up this winter by raking and blowing leaves but apparently I missed a bunch. What are my options now? I tried hand picking the worst area but half of them just ripped at the root. I can't believe how well established the root systems are already.

Thanks!

Bryan

Gas up the mower, Bryan!

+! Gary. If you mow a tree seedling, you'll kill it.

Thanks guys! Glad to know it shouldn't be an issue. I started to freak out a little bit last night as I saw little oak trees sprouting. It is amazing how fast (and deep) those things root.

The sprouted ones are no issue. It's the loose ones still on the lawn that make your lawnmower sound like a popcorn popper in high gear that are the most fun.

Just keep mowing. I'm assuming they are live oak trees. Soon enough they will stop sprouting.

Don't spray them, though. Some of them could be coming off of shallow roots on the main tree. If you spray you could damage those roots.

mowing has not worked for me. We have been mowing the little oak tree for over 2 years and each year more and more pop up. I now have a 10-15 ft radius around a SMALL 20 ft oak tree we can't walk b/c of the horrible little trees trying to grow. It feels like trying to walk on sticks. I guess I will try spraying all 100+ of them :( Anyone have any ideas?
