Can you get some pictures taken in brighter light and also of the flowers and some larger specimens growing in a field some place? Have you ruled out other common stuff with yellow flowers like Baccharis spp and Hypericum spp?

Well, I have not ruled out anything yet cause all of the weed sites I find only have grassy or grass like weeds. This is not grassy at all almost tree like. This was one of the biggest ones I could find. Even if it grows in a non mowed field, they do not get tall, more of a spreader.
Ill get some better photos. The one above was picked from my neighbors yard, since he doesnt mow or irrigate, he seems to have better picks.

Another note, I have not found a selective herbicde to be effictive. I had to hand pull my entire lawn.

My sisters lawn got a double does of the highest recremended concentration, one week apart of a spectacide ground clearer and about 1/5 of the unidentified plants didnt bite the dust.
Very tough weed.

If it's a woody plant, something containing triclopyr would be a better route to take (think brush-B-gone® or Greenlight® Stump killer or similar)

I still did not get an ID on the plant, I never did get better photos either. On the brighter side, spectracide brush clearer seems to be working. About 4 days ago I sprayed a few selected patches of this weed. Today they are wilted and yellow. I dont know if Ill need one more dose to do them in or just see if one spary does it. I gave them the highest recremended dose.

I know this thread is over 5 years old now... but I've been trying to figure out the name of this weed for a while and finally did!

It's called "Common Wireweed." Common Fanpetals, Wireweed - Sida acuta... from http://www.floridasnature.com/florida_herbs_10.htm

I use a claw-hammer to pull it, gets the whole thing root and all.
