| In September 2010, we had our entire backyard re-sodded. The sod took wonderfully - it was lush and green, and we mowed it once or twice before the cold weather really settled in. So here we are in May 2011, and the lawn looks about 50% brown/dead grass and 50% green. It's not growing - we haven't had to mow it yet once this year. We haven't raked it either.
We've had an extremely wet spring with very cool temperatures (Buffalo), and the weather is just starting to come around. We have clay soil and very poor drainage in the yard, but since the rains finally stopped about a week ago, the yard has dried out nicely. Our neighbors all seem to have thriving green yards, and their soil/drainage issues are the same as ours. Does anyone have any insight into what may have happened and if there's anything we can do to revive the lawn? Thanks! |

| Have you applied anything to the lawn so far this year...fertilizer, herbicides, etc.? Do you have any shade issues from trees or buildings? What type of grass do you have? Have you done a soil test? Can you provide pictures? |

| Hi - we haven't applied anything to the lawn so far. I asked the landscaper what he used, and he said without checking the ticket, he is pretty sure it is "a mix of bluegrass and some other stuff". He said they've never had any problems before with other customers. Our yard is full sun - no shade. We haven't done a soil test. I can provide pictures shortly. Thanks. |

| That's what my front yard looks like. Just had a landscaper diagnose grub damage (guess it happened last summer). He pulled up some of the sod and you could see the root damage and even some dead grubs. What I was told for my case is I have to rake up the dead stuff this fall and reseed. (and treat for grubs in july) |
