| I have seen so many of these brand new subdivisions in my area (atlanta) with new sod and oh my gosh the weeds that are so soon sprouting up in it.
I too am soon to have new sod laid and was wondering if there is either a pre emergent I need to use or some sort of weed control for new sod. |

| I probably wouldn't use preemergents before laying new sod, as many of them prevent cell division, thus preventing or slowing your grass' roots from growing. Weed killers on the other hand should be fine (check the labels first) as the grass is considered mature and the selective herbicides shouldn't affect them a few weeks after it is installed (I say a few weeks because weeds will probably take a while to pop up through the sod). |

| Thanks, that makes very good sense. I am mostly totally organic. I say mostly because I have spent years and season after season using corn gluten as a pre-emergent and I have never found it to do didly squat. So I have had to resort to chemicals to get weed seeds under control with commercial pre-emergents. Most disappointing. Thanks again for the advice. |
